The struggle to find an ideal blood pressure is fraught with problems because everyone has a different way of interpreting the data. Reviewers of this chart may view it as an example of nonsense, but I have searched the data and tried to find a reliable middle way. These ideas are based on estimates to make a more specific the goal for people seeking ideal health.

The strange result of this search is that the US statistics on average blood pressure of living people is far from the ideals their data recommends. For example, the new normal from our Center for Disease Control authorities recommends blood pressure of less than 120/80 mm Hg, but with no bottom limit. It required some searching to find the recommendation of keeping blood pressure above 90/60.

When we look at this new chart, we see that for an average American, age 50, blood pressure is 130/82. That systolic pressure is 10 above the currently recommended target of below 120/80, and the unmentioned ideal systolic blood pressure is 15 mm Hg below their suggestion. This new layout which goes to the middle of the authority’s recommendations and reveals an ideal goal of 105/70 with a pulse pressure of 35. That systolic pressure is 25 mm Hg below most of Americans blood pressure.

It would appear that the health and longevity of Americans would be enhanced by achieving an ideal blood pressure of 105/70 with a pulse pressure of 35. But, that is a five year old child’s normal blood pressure.
