Virgina Woolf possessed ethereal beauty and the several variations done with Photoshop yesterday explored that glamor. The same picture will take on various qualities with a few subtle manipulations of the controls. At first my efforts were about removing photo imperfections caused by time and mishandling but then it evolved into exploring the mysterious woman behind the image.

Today at the Cafe Med, I was talking with an artist friend Sara Frucht, whom I blogged about last week, about doing a portrait of me. She seemed to think that would be an interesting project and was willing to go along with my stipulations — make it exactly the way you want it to be but explore the outer reaches of light and form like you always do with plants. That was about all I asked for as my input, other than that it be of me. So, we were chatting about that and about my variations on Virginia Woolf which I was showing her on my computer when — I was really taken aback by a woman walking by who had the same aura as Woolf. I instantly asked her to come over because I wanted to show her the images which I had been working on which I believed looked striking like her. Of course no one ever looks exactly like anyone else but there was an uncanny resemblance of what I am calling aura. See, what you think.

Gypsy at the Med

Gypsy at the Med is like a reincarnation of Virginia Woolf

To my eye there is a striking similarity. Sara and I chatted for a moment with Gypsy and I took this almost spontaneous photo and asked her if I could post it on my blog with the Virginia Woolf renderings. Gypsy said okay and seemed to like the idea. I think she may have been a tourist just passing through and I may never see her again but for me, however, it was a wonderful minute.
