  1. Contentment is normal when you have enough for your needs and accept that everything beyond that is for optional pleasures.
  2. If eating a healthy meal isn’t enough, eating all the food in the world won’t be enough to satisfy you.
  3. It feels more satisfying to enjoy what you have than suffer over what you want.
  4. It is a waste of your time and energy to try to satisfy a gluttony.
  5. You can be content with yourself and the external world when you choose to love them as they exist.
  6. Contentment comes into those who help others live more fully.
  7. If you can’t find contentment within yourself, where will you look?
  8. You can be content even while engaged with complex problems.
  9. Participate in what comes to you with contentment, even when that means struggling against something morally wrong.
  10. The media of the world grabs your attention by promoting discontent.
  11. The purveyors of media earn their money by convincing you to spend your money on optional pleasures.
  12. Borrowing money to buy optional pleasures creates discontentment.
