It seems that in a democracy, no helpful foresight is possible because the easily foreseen problems haven’t created any pain in those who refuse to think about consequences. We must wait until many people are hurting before political action can be brought to solve a problem. Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic has raged on because people who haven’t caught the disease and been hospitalized don’t use enough foresight to think they should take precautions. When interviewed on TV, people in hospital beds with Covid say they wished they had gotten the vaccine and claimed they would when out of the hospital and fully recovered.
The total number of Americans killed in military action in all 245 years of war is 666,441. The total number of Americans already killed by Covid is 677,017, and that number is bound to continue increasing. We have now lost more people to Covid than to all of the wars ever fought by the USA. So how is it that nearly a hundred million Americans still refuse to get the vaccine and even contest wearing a mask when encountering other people? The information about risk and what to do to avoid that risk is starkly apparent, so people are not ignorant of the facts but are being willfully stupid.
Of the eight billion people alive today, a quarter of a billion are documented to have had the Covid disease. That means only one in thirty-two has had the disease, and all of the rest of the unvaccinated are at risk of catching it, with about two percent of them dying. So the disease will be with us for many years. Eventually, nearly everyone will develop resistance, either the hard way by having Covid or the easy way by getting a painless two-second injection.
The motto of news coverage is, “If it bleeds, it leads!” and the evidence has been covered for 20 months, but the message has been that if you want to be seen on TV, you must act colorfully stupid where a news camera can record your actions. And a little bit of blood will boost the viewer’s interest and, therefore, the coverage.
John, serious/marked reduction of the world’s population is in tune with the affinity the Gates’ family show for the “Eugenics” movement. Problem being: how best to achieve the “cull”, eh?
