This evening there was a private screening of Don Campbell’s new movie When I Was 80. Many of the performers for this feature-length movie were present, including me. The film explores the characters of Randall Shelton, Pat Hanns, Mark McFeely, and me, Charles Scamahorn/Probaway. The conversations revolve around our personal world views. Randall knows he has a human spirit that lives forever. Pat is a very practical realist who welcomes the world, in whatever form it comes to her. And Charles is an explorer of the borders of physical reality, irked by humanity’s ability to exterminate itself. Don Campbell reveals each of us as honest explorers of our personal realities.  As the story develops these people become more real, more lovable and weirder.

Don was still recording us here at the first showing.

Randall’s wife got this picture of us on stage after the showing. From the left Britta, then me in the beret, Pat in peach, Randall in the white sweater, Mark in the black sweater and Don smiling proudly at his cast.
