Living a good life is easy, just adopt the pace of nature; her secret is doing the right thing, at the right time, in the right way. This reminds me of my New Year’s Resolution of many years ago. “Don’t try to be smart, just avoid being stupid.” That required watching myself, which at the time was in the form of George Gurdjieff’s All and Everything teachings of constant self-observation.
But, you may seriously ask, what can one do to avoid being stupid? Most simply stated, look into the future, especially the future results of your actions. And those reactions in response to uncontrollable world events created by other people, and the obvious inexorable laws of nature.
With those few ideas in mind, watch yourself, the people you encounter, and the world in general. You will soon discover that most people, although they appear to be getting along just fine, are quite desperate because of some clearly foolish personal behavior. Much of the human problems of our world are created by people grasping for things which are clearly impossible for them to attain, especially using the methods they choose to use.
It would be unfair of me to list these, because they are obvious, and you would just yawn and walk away. However, when you discover basic things yourself it becomes easy to –
Do the right thing, at the right time, in the right way.
